Gary A. Leake Woodworking Website

This project was one of my first professional gigs, and it was a trade with this talented woodworker. Gary makes incredible pieces that really showcase the unique strengths and qualities of different types of wood. He needed a site to showcase what kind of work he can do. We went back and forth about enabling the site for e-commerce, but ultimately it would have been too unsustainable for the shop to maintain when a piece sold elsewhere and was no longer available. Therefore, it functions more as a portfolio.

Each piece is described with an artist's statement and details like what kind of wood was used. Though the pieces showcased on the site are no longer available, it gives visitors a good picture of what kind of goods he produces. This also helps with any potential commission orders, because they can take inspiration from past pieces.

The site came with a guide so the artist could maintain it himself no matter skill level. I also make myself available to help with fixes and updates should the need arise. In return, he made me my favorite piece in my house, a stunning table with storage inside.
